History
Completed in about 1976, Kidd’s Creek Condo was the first townhouse complex in the Barrie. Since then, trees have matured to offer a varied canopy and our location close to shopping and schools creates an environment that blends older architecture with mature trees and an urban lifestyle.

The complex was completed in about 1976 and is similar in style and construction with other townhouses of that time. As the first townhouse complex in the city, scare articles in the Barrie Examiner forecast dire consequences of building this new type of housing in a residential area. As usual, these fears were unfounded and the development blended into the community as the trees and foliage resumed their natural state.
Trees play a major part in Kidd’s Creek Condominium and great effort is being taken to preserve our trees and replant as mature trees come to the end of their lilfe-cycle.
The board of directors takes pride in maintaining the buildings and ensures repairs are done in a timely manner. As construction predated the existing building code, remedial work concentrates on making each unit conform, as much as possible, to safety and fire codes. During 2009 and 2010, attics and outside walls had insulation upgrades to R50 in the attic and R12 in the walls.
Roofs were re-shingled during 2019, 2020 and 2021, and extra attic ventilation was installed previously in 2010. Work is ongoing to upgrade windows and patio doors.
Most units are wired with aluminum wiring, the choice during construction. Some owners have rewired with copper. Aluminum wiring, properly maintained is completely safe, contrary to popular myth. Please see the pages on wiring in this site. All units were retrofitted with breaker panels.
Unit owners are responsible for the maintenance of plumbing and electrical within their units.
